According to The New York Times, Chinese secret service official was arrested in China because he was gathering secret Chinese documents for the United States.
Quoting unnamed source "familiar with the case", the newspaper says that the arrested was an employee in the Chinese State Security ministry.
According to the New Way magazine from Hong Kong, the arrested official was a secretary for one of the deputy ministers. The deputy minister was also removed from the position, and the investigation concluded that around 350 people were involved in the affair.
The secretary was allegedly recruited from the CIA (Central Intelligence Service) while he was studying in the States.
The Newspaper New York Times says that the officials in China and USA are quiet about the arrest.
