Azerbaijan prevents terrorist attacks during Eurovision 2012 contest

Dozens were arrested, one of the suspects was killed during the arrest because he was resisting, Azerbaijani ministry of national security announced today.


"The ministry of National Security decided not to reveal this information during the Eurosong contest because it might have caused panic among guests and participants".

They also said that the main target of the terrorist group was the capital city Baku during the final night of the competition on 26th May, but thanks to the quick and professional response of the security service the terror plot was thwarted and around 40 people were arrested.

The group planned attacks on the "Crystal Hall" where Eurosong 2012 took place, they've also planned attack on the Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, police buildings, mosques and other religious objects, hotels where foreign guests were staying etc.

"The service arrested the terrorist group members during the operations carried in Baku, Kyanza, Sumgayit and several other place in Azerbaijan" - Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security adds.
